This humorous poster is an homage to the old school black and white cartoons from the 1920s and 1930s. To make the theme complete, it also uses typography that was used in the same era. This poster is entirely driven by typography which makes perfect sense since it’s a story about the font Helvetica. The designers uses descending font sizes for three to five lines at a time to make sure all areas of the poster shines. A spiral imprint runs through the top left and a lighter cascade covers the right half of the poster for a contrasting effect.
5. Ministry of Sound
To put the emphasis on the date of this music event, the designer comes up with a string design pattern to spell out the word Saturday. It’s a beautiful arts and craft projects that was used as typography for this poster. Throughout the poster, you see the list of performers and dates nearly organized on the right hand side in white font to contrast the dark background.
6. Bike Like a New Yorker
This is an awesome poster that’s designed to get more people to bike in the city for a greener environment. It take a bird’s eye view photo of a cross walk with a bicyclist cross a New York street. In the middle of the crosswalk, you see the “Bike Like a New Yorker” statement appearing as if it was painted on the street.
7. Moving Differently From the Mirror
There’s a lot you can do with shapes when it comes to typographic driven poster designs. This example proves that as it uses typography laid out like a staircase. The way that everything is laid out results in a three-dimensional effect which makes the poster unique. It also makes you want to follow the message all the way to the end.
8. Dockers
Dockers has come up with a great poster for advertising their pants. Instead of using real models, the typography makes up the shape of where the model would be. The big type states “Behold the Second Dawn of Man” to fill in the silhouette. The important word “Behold” is also used to fill in the outside of the silhouette.
9. Foreign Public Service Poster
This foreign public service poster is an interesting way to deliver a message to the public. It uses vintage style 3-D character models to portray the situation. It then uses typography and an infographic-like presentation full of statistics to convince the reader of the merits of losing weight, saving money and drinking less.

MoMA uses a visually attractive poster to showcase their exhibitions for the year. The poster is divided into four parts that all connect to spell out MoMA. It then uses an interplay of white, orange and black to give the design a modern feel and carefully lays out the descriptions of the exhibits so that they are readable.
11. Guimarães JAZZ 2009
This is a beautiful poster that advertises a Jazz event through a combination of classic visuals and interesting typography. The poster features a musician playing his instrument. To describe the details of the Jazz event, the typography is laid out in a flow pattern to really bring out the feel of the music being played.
12. Got More?
Not all posters need to have intricate designs. This poster does a great job in delivering the right message with simple typography and a simple graphic design. It alludes to the popular milk slogan ‘Got Milk?’ and puts the earth in the center of the poster. There is a straw stuck into the earth with a big portion of the water being dripped out to make a statement about our environmental practices.
